The Monkey Moon Rises
The Monkey King was formidable even before he became an immortal. He was the "Great Sage Equal of Heaven and Earth." First, he beat up Poseiden and took his shoes, he stole the Pivot Pole that pinned the Milky Way galaxy to the Earth's axis to use as a fighting stick, before he kicked in the gates of Hell, mopped the floor with the Devil himself, and then erased his name off of Death's registry. The Monkey King is one bad mofo. đđđ

As for the poetry of the moment, soften up. If you're anything like our hero the Monkey King, you're too strong for your own good. We all know you're mighty, but how many people know you're also soft and cuddly too? If you know anything about the story, the Monkey King was wild until he was given a mission - so if you have the energy, stop being so aggressive. Try and use your power productively. Add value, don't just waste it.
To make this make sense, put your self to good use. If you can't be soft, then you can at least apply your fire towards a proper cause. This is when we need to be closing up and finishing out. So if you're already done, good! Now go help someone else. If not, then stop goofing off - Winter's coming.

⧠Shifu Says â§
Last week, our new born son turned a month old! In just four short weeks, baby Zayd (sounds like Jade) has pretty much doubled in size! As you could imagine, we're not getting much rest in this household, so I'm happy to pass this segment off to my senior students that have a Zayd story of their own.
For almost 3 years now one of the offerings at Wudang West is a Foundations of Healing Qigong session on Wednesday evenings. Itâs a time for Q&A, discussions, and practice. Thereâs a group of regular students, and we stay in touch outside of class.
Shifu and Shimuâs baby boy was due in July, and early in the month Shifu had told us âShimu can go into labor any day now.â
So one of our group, Christina, suggested for our July 8 session that we meditate for their soon-to-be born son. She had done this type of meditation before and said, âIt seems like a group doing it together could amplify the energy. It might be a nice gift for the baby.â
We all agreed we wanted to meditate together. But since we already had a plan for that evening, we decided to find a time in the next few days, hopefully ahead of the babyâs arrival!
Christina kindly put together a poll to find a shared time for most of us.
A day passed. Some people hadnât responded. She sent a reminder on Friday. How about Saturday during this window? Or Sunday at this time? Nope, none of those times were going to work either.
After all the back and forth, it turned out the only time that was going to be best for most of us was Monday, July 13 from 12:30-1pm Pacific Time.
So we gathered at 12:30 over Zoom. One of the group had to go right away. Another was in a Trader Joeâs parking lot on her phone. Others were on their lunch breaks with hard stops at 1 oâclock. But our hearts were set.
For this meditation, Christina was going to play a special 14-minute song. She tried sharing it, but we had trouble with the audio. So we really didnât get started until around 12:40, getting quiet and focused, meditating and praying silently while listening to the song.
Once it was over, we closed our meditation and ended our Zoom.
Shortly after we got the word: âBaby Zayd is here!â
Then we learned he was born right in the middle of our meditation at 12:49pm! We were amazed and overjoyed!
As Christina expresses it:
âThis meditation is for the highest destiny for all future generations of children, but Zayd was the primary focus. Itâs so neat that we were able to welcome him to this world right when he was born. I feel love and gratitude because Zayd and all children are our future for a better Earth. This seemed like a meditation in alignment with all the conscious intent David & Najia put in naming their baby Zayd.â
Welcome Baby Zayd! We love you!

Circulation Series
Having healthy blood flow and circulation is more than getting your heart rate up - it's about giving every part of your body the opportunity to move, nourish, and recover. Our Summer time Circulation Set is a simple, logical movement system designed to improve blood flow from head to toe using natural movement patterns that require no equipment, no technology, and very little space. Whether you're at home, in your office, or out on the road, these exercises can become a practical part of your daily routine.

Rather than relying on complicated choreography, this program explores universal dimensions of human movement to encourage circulation through every possible region of the body. To make this alternative program real and tangible, our material includes a series of objective assessments which will allow you to track your progress over time with empirical data. Why wonder if your practice is working or not? Now, you can track and follow clear and delineated benchmarks to help you log your results in - real time.
Originally, we valued this program at $150, but it's available now for just $69 - AND, as an additional Thank You to our SFCLC community, you'll get first glance and 20% off with promo code SFCLC. Discover how just a few minutes of intentional movement can keep your body rocking all year long!
