Full Goat Moon

When touring Europe to teach, Shifu once stayed on a barn yard retreat in the rural outskirts of the Czech Republic. The farm wasn't big, they only had a few horses and a handfull of goats, but what Shifu found most interesting was the little shed that the goats slept in - the inside of the hut was covered in mirrors. This gave the goats the comfort of a larger group, which helped them to stress less, sleep better, and produce more milk.

As for the poetry of the moment, think like a goat. This isn't the time to be running solo. We all need some solidarity this season. If you think that you'd be better off on your own, you're wrong. Humans need humans. The folly of our current era is to think we can do everything by ourselves. The reality is that no one is an island unto themselves - we all need each other to get by.
Keeping this in mind, this is the time to invest in your friends. Reach out, touch bases, share a meal and hash out your differences for sake of mutual growth and support. It's just like the very first analect of Confucius, "Isn't it great to see an old friend from afar and practice what we know?"

The Horse Moon Wanes    Have you ever noticed that some horses wear blinders? They're these tiny little flaps of black leather that block off the sides of a horses eyes to shield their periferal vision. They're common amongst service horses and calvary. It keeps them focused and it prevents them from getting overly stimulated.    As for the poetry of the moment, take some time to reflect on ...

Full Wood Horse Moon    BOOM! If only we could start this edition off with a sound effect, or better yet, a theme song. This is the peak of Mount Everest - the highest point of the year. We've made it. You can pat yourself on the back. Great job! Now we get to watch the mushroom cloud and steer clear of the fall out.     As for the poetry of the moment, go ahead, take a breather. With the wo...

Waxing Wood Horse Moon   It's Summer Solstice season, the absolute peak of our annual solar cycle - you doing okay? Whether you're Kid Icarus or Tony Montana from Scarface, the story remains the same, "Careful not to fly too high." You'd be better off floating and coasting at a steady cruising altitude for the rest of this phase.    As for the poetry of the moment, don't over extend yourself...
