The Final Full Moon

This is a juicy time of year. Similar to how the native Hawaiians have all these different ways to describe the rain, or how the Inuit Eskimos have all these different ways to describe the snow, there are just as many ways that we can describe this yearly shift from the pit of yin to the light of yang.

One cute way to illustrate this phase is with a silly "butt/head" phrase. In western astrology, this would be called a cusp. This is when the border line between two neighboring zodiac signs gets blurred and the two archetypes influence each other. As of now, we've got a dragon butt with a snake head. Next year, we'll have a snake butt with a horse head. Make sense? We can't wait for 2028/29 - that will be a monkey butt, chicken head. 😅
Another way to describe the final full moon of the year is Xiao Xin Nian, or Little New Year. This is the two week preparation party before the two week new year party. We're basically partying for a full month here. This is when we buy new clothes, get hair cuts, clean our homes, and pack our pantries with fresh fruits and produce before the spring festivities. Fun, right? How do you get ready for the promise of a new year?

✧ Chinese New Year Pre Party Prep ✧

Clean the House: Out with the old to make room for the new.
Hang Arrangements: Help abundance find its way to your home.
Get New Clothes: Make yourself pretty and fresh for spring.
Get a Haircut: Look sharp for when opportunity knocks.
Stuff Red Envelopes: Prepare little gifts with a big heart.

The New Year Countdown Begins Now!

Waxing Metal Tiger    In many ways, this could be considered auspicious. Sure, we have a wild Fire Horse picking up pace, but we've also got a Metal Tiger for checks and balances. First off, Horses and Tigers make good business buddies, and the Metal and Fire forces are complimentary too. Think of a cast iron stove - not only is it functional, but it's classy too, and full of character. From ...

Happy New Year!    Forget about that Gregorian timeline everyone keeps raving about, in this community, we celebrate the moon! According to the mainstream, we're still in 2026 - but by our measure, we're already in the year 4724! That's nearly a 27 century long discrepency. Talk about a margain of error!    As for the poetry of the moment, chill out. You think the sky's never fallen before? ...

Earth Ox Moon Wanes    This year, Spring begins in silence. By the almanac's account, every year begins on February 4th. It's no different than any solstice or equinox, which also get locked onto the same calendar day, year after year. The only thing is, with everyone so excited about our mighty Yang Fire Horse on the way, no one really noticed the slow roll out of the new year already in blo...
