Earth Ox Moon Wanes

This year, Spring begins in silence. By the almanac's account, every year begins on February 4th. It's no different than any solstice or equinox, which also get locked onto the same calendar day, year after year. The only thing is, with everyone so excited about our mighty Yang Fire Horse on the way, no one really noticed the slow roll out of the new year already in bloom.

As for the poetry of the moment, rise and shine! If we were to pit this time of year against the splay of a day, then this would be likened to the break of dawn. Birds are chirping, morning condensation is dripping on the windows, and our eyes are only starting to crack open from a night of slumber. How is it that we could already be in a rush? Let's give ourselves time to wake up!
To make this make sense, drag your feet. Act like you haven't had a cup of coffee yet - the day/year has only just begun. If anything feels like it's going to take more effort than a morning yawn, you're working too hard! Ease up. For this phase, you get ahead by staying behind.

Waxing Water Snake    There was once a Snake caught in a fire. A brave man saved the Snake by pulling it from the blaze, but in the process, the Snake bit the man and killed him with poison. Perhaps we could fault the Snake, but it's only natural for it to bite. Perhaps we could fault the brave man, but he only wanted to help.     As for the poetry of the moment, be careful! If you want to s...

Yin Water Snake Moon    Wow, Snake moon - the first moon of Summer! We often talk about how a Snake is really just the tail of a Dragon, but Snakes also have a personality of their own. On good days, they're wise, intuitive, attentive, intelligent, and caring. On bad days, however, they could be down right mean, manic, and manipulative - their misconduct is literally biblical. Care for an app...

Dragon Moon Wanes    Careful now, don't let the Dragon fool you. Remember at the beginning of the moon when we told you that the Dragon was really, really big? Well, this is where it shows up - you thought the Dragon was done, but NOPE! We still have another moon to go! You thought that was a Snake moon coming next? Better look again... that's not a snake - that's the Dragon's tail!    As fo...
