012. Yin Earth Pig Moon
People say the Pig is the luckiest animal in the zodiac, but Madame Xu's got something bigger to tell you: Luck isn't always about what you receive. Sometimes it's about what you can become. Take a domesticated Pig and set it loose in the wilderness - before long, it begins adapting to life in the wild. Take a ferral Pig and put it in a comfortable home, and it can learn to enjoy the comforts of domestic life just as quickly. A Pig's greatest fortune isn't wealth, privilege, or protection - it's adaptability. Wherever life puts it, the Pig finds a way to survive, settle, and thrive. As Winter sets in, this is a lesson worth remembering. Your circumstances may very well change, but your potential doesn't have to disappear with them.
∙ Sum of the Month ∙
⭐︎ Your Key Word: Adapt. You can't control the weather. Wear a coat.
+ Rabbits & Goats: Favorable social energy invites you to build bonds.
- Snakes: Be careful not to be swept up in this early Winter weather.
± Oxen and Roosters: You get a boost this moon, use it to catch up.
October 10th - November 9th
The Pig Moon invites us to dream a little differently. Not the idle sort of dreaming where we sit around wishing things would improve, but active dreaming - imagining the life we want and then beginning to behave like the person capable of living it. What would you do if your circumstances were different? What habits would you develop? What opportunities would you pursue? What would you stop tolerating? The Pig reminds us that we are not completely defined by our environment. We can adapt, reinvent ourselves, and grow into new possibilities that we haven't yet experienced. Winter is traditionally a season of retreat, but retreat doesn't mean total surrender. Sometimes transformation happens quietly, long before anyone notices.
Of course, not every animal should go charging into the wilderness this moon. Snakes should ease up and avoid getting swept up in any mayhem. There's no need to slither into every situation simply because something interesting is happening. Oxen and Roosters receive a welcome boost, but rather than spending it on more work, they would be wise to use this good fortune to catch up on rest. Rabbits and Goats also receive some affection from the Heavens, making this an excellent time to nurture old friendships, reconnect with loved ones, and invest in their social lives. As the Yang Fire Horse year continues toward its conclusion, remember that strength isn't always about pushing forward. Sometimes the greatest strength is being able to change courses without losing yourself.
