Waxing Water Dragon

Shifu often talks about how big a Dragon can get. Imagine a beast so big it can fill the entire sky! It's like the first Star Wars intro where you can see the bottom of a starship cruiser and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger as the screen pans down. Similarly, the classics describe Dragons as being so big that your eyes can't contain all of one at once. They're huge.

As for the poetry of the moment, can you expand your sense of self? Are you just you? Or maybe you're your family too? Are you your favorite team? Are you your politics? Are you your religion or faith? Are you your town, city, or state? Are you your gender, etnicity, or race? However big (or small) you see yourself - in reality - you're only as big as your influence. You wouldn't want to be so buff that you couldn't even wipe your own butt. Right? Maybe reel it in a bit. Let's not get blustered beyond our britches.
To make this make sense, go ahead and push your limits. If there ever was a time to exaggerate, this would be it - so long as you're not promising more than you can deliver. This isn't exactly the time to brag or boast, but there's certainly enough wiggle room to romanticize an idea or two. So, let yourself let loose - stretch out and expand - just don't lose your roots.

✧ Expanding your Horizons ✧

Pick up a Book: Expose yourself to new ideas.
Go Somewhere:
Go and get your passport stamped.
Listen to Music:
Lose yourself to a whole new groove.
Break the Rules:
It's exactly the same, just different.
Get Home Safely:
Back to life. Back to reality.

The Snake Moon Wanes    As we phase out of the first moon of Summer and gallop into the Solstice, think of this little moment as the calm before the storm. Once it's "Go Time," nature won't care if you're ready or not - the heat is coming. The tail end of a Snake is soft and could be compared to that precious seed of Yin that sits within the fat belly of Yang - it's probably a good idea to ch...
The Daoist Outlook・092
Full Water Snake Moon    If you were to ask old man Abraham, or any of his kin, they'd probably tell you that Snakes are bad - and it makes sense. They're ice-cold, they slither and sidewind to advance, they can shed their skin, and they have venomous bites. It's all too easy to see Satan in these serpent vermin - but what if we had it all wrong? What if Snakes were little prophets of God?  ...
The Daoist Outlook・091
Waxing Water Snake    There was once a Snake caught in a fire. A brave man saved the Snake by pulling it from the blaze, but in the process, the Snake bit the man and killed him with poison. Perhaps we could fault the Snake, but it's only natural for it to bite. Perhaps we could fault the brave man, but he only wanted to help.     As for the poetry of the moment, be careful! If you want to s...
