Mid Autumn Festival

In the Chinese Lunar calendar, the two biggest celebrations align with the start of Spring for the New Year and the peak of Fall for mid Autumn. It's as if our ancestors preferred these short-lived phases of harmony, ease, and stability over the peaks, pits, and extremes of Summer and Winter.

As for the poetry of the moment, enjoy this fleeting feeling of equanimity. In the Spring, we get the sensation of rising to the occasion, but in Autumn, it's more like sinking into your favorite sofa, or slipping into your PJ's for the night. This is a great time for gratitude - you know, the warm fuzzy kind.
To make this make sense, look at boring as a blessing. If your day to day doings are ordinary and dull, then see yourself as fortunate and privileged. Try to find the divine within that which is otherwise flat, drab, and bland. If we can simplify our sights, God just might come into view.

Waxing Metal Tiger    In many ways, this could be considered auspicious. Sure, we have a wild Fire Horse picking up pace, but we've also got a Metal Tiger for checks and balances. First off, Horses and Tigers make good business buddies, and the Metal and Fire forces are complimentary too. Think of a cast iron stove - not only is it functional, but it's classy too, and full of character. From ...

Happy New Year!    Forget about that Gregorian timeline everyone keeps raving about, in this community, we celebrate the moon! According to the mainstream, we're still in 2026 - but by our measure, we're already in the year 4724! That's nearly a 27 century long discrepency. Talk about a margain of error!    As for the poetry of the moment, chill out. You think the sky's never fallen before? ...

Earth Ox Moon Wanes    This year, Spring begins in silence. By the almanac's account, every year begins on February 4th. It's no different than any solstice or equinox, which also get locked onto the same calendar day, year after year. The only thing is, with everyone so excited about our mighty Yang Fire Horse on the way, no one really noticed the slow roll out of the new year already in blo...
