Rabbit Moon Wanes

We're not out of the woods just yet. The lucky rabbit may have evaded the terrestrial threat of the tiger, but she may very well run right into the jaws of a Dragon. The next two moons are considered the most potent of the twelve zodiac archetypes - all the other moons are just a response to this third and fourth phase. We are now launching from Spring's potential into Summer's productivity. This is where yang takes its turn. Ready or not, here we go!

In addition to all this amazing astrology, we also get to celebrate Shifu for his 45th birthday! Our favorite young elder completes his latest lap around the sun on Monday, the 24th. In case you didn't know, this last Dragon year really took a heavy toll on our teacher and his family. If you've been out of the loop, this would be a great time to check in and show some love.
Traditionally, there are four times a year that a serious student should feel obligated to honor their Shifu - and birthdays are one of them (extra credit if you know the other three - email your answers here). Fortunately for us, our Shifu isn't very hard to please. If you're not sure what to get him, just train. Train so hard that he can't help but notice you. It's the easiest way to put a smile on his face. Not only will he be proud of your progress, but you'll be the one that gets all the perks from practice in return. It's a win-win!

✧ Giving the Perfect Gift ✧

Be Thoughtful: Good gifts are from one heart to another.
Just Practice: Nothing to offer? Give your sweat and effort!
Bring Friends: If you can find value, maybe they will too!
Get Serious: Consider teaching. Create the gift of legacy.
Be Mindful of Time: Don't make Shifu more busy.

Happy Birthday Shifu!!!

The Horse Moon Wanes    Have you ever noticed that some horses wear blinders? They're these tiny little flaps of black leather that block off the sides of a horses eyes to shield their periferal vision. They're common amongst service horses and calvary. It keeps them focused and it prevents them from getting overly stimulated.    As for the poetry of the moment, take some time to reflect on ...

Full Wood Horse Moon    BOOM! If only we could start this edition off with a sound effect, or better yet, a theme song. This is the peak of Mount Everest - the highest point of the year. We've made it. You can pat yourself on the back. Great job! Now we get to watch the mushroom cloud and steer clear of the fall out.     As for the poetry of the moment, go ahead, take a breather. With the wo...

Waxing Wood Horse Moon   It's Summer Solstice season, the absolute peak of our annual solar cycle - you doing okay? Whether you're Kid Icarus or Tony Montana from Scarface, the story remains the same, "Careful not to fly too high." You'd be better off floating and coasting at a steady cruising altitude for the rest of this phase.    As for the poetry of the moment, don't over extend yourself...
