The Yin Fire Pig Moon

Whoa Nellie, what a ride! Can you believe it's Winter already!? The tail end of this Yin Wood Snake Year is here, but with a Yin Fire Pig moon, anticipate some volatility. First off, Snakes and Pigs don't get along. It would be all too easy for a Snake Year to bully a Pig Moon, but if we consider the elements, an angry Fire Pig would absolutely have the upper-hand advantage over a little Wooden Snake - either way you spin it, expect tension.

As for the poetry of the moment, don't underestimate your opposition. You thought that task would only take 20 minutes? In reality, you actually need a couple hours. You thought that other task would take a couple hours? Turns out you only needed 20 minutes. Go figure. That's the problem with winding down for the Winter, we're supposed to be resting, but life could force us to pivot in an instant. That's why Fire Pigs are big, but still nimble.
To make this make sense, try to ride that line between rested and resilient. The season might be telling us to slow down and stay inside - but the world outside is growing wilder by the minute. This is why we keep that small dot of Yang tucked inside the pit of Yin. We're relaxing - not collapsing.

✧ Tai Chi Standing Post ✧

Feel your Heels: Drop your tail bone and sink your weight.
Feel your Crown:
Tuck your chin and lift the top of your head.
Feel Buoyant:
Lighten up as you breathe in deeply to your belly.
Feel Heavy: Exhale and settle into the frame of your bones.
Feel Alive: Experience Yin and Yang in every breath.

Rested yet Attentive

Fire Pig Moon Wanes    Here we are at the curly-tail end of our Yin Fire Pig Moon. The solstice is nearly upon us and we're quickly encroaching upon the deepest pit of Yin for the year - but don't worry - it'll fly right by and should be over before it even begins. Once this phase comes to pass, Yang will be on the rise yet again... and so the world goes - as it always has/always will.    As...

A Full Fire Pig Moon    Last week we leaned in on the internal transformative power of a pig, but did you know that it has an external transformative capacity too? It's true! If you plucked a feral boar from the wild - tusks, hair, and all - and threw it in a pen, within 3-6 mo. it'd look no different from all the other porky pigs. In the same way, if you take an heirloom, blue ribbon pigle...

The Waxing Fire Pig    Did you know that pigs could live under an outhouse and thrive? They can literally eat nothing but food scraps and feces and still be perfectly content. The other animal that could do that is the goat; but if a goat eats garbage, it will taste like garbage - both the meat and the milk. Not a pig though. It has the ability to metabolize the mess and still be delicious....
