The Wood Monkey Moon

In the scope of the five primary elements, wood is considered the baby of the bunch. Not the wood of a mighty oak or a towering pine, but more like a tiny sprout just barely breaking out of the earth. Now pair this quality with the mischievous monkey, you end up with a mix of playfulness, curiosity, and an occasional innocent mishap.

As for the poetry of the moment, treat yourself like a baby monkey. Give yourself clear directions: "Put that down," "Wait until dinner," "Take a bath," or "Go to bed!" It's the first lunar phase of Fall and all of the manic monkeys will be out there pouncing about as if Summer never ended - don't get lured in. You'll need your fuel for Winter. Let's not bottom out in Autumn.
To make this make sense, use the skills you learned in kindergarden. Wipe your nose, wash your hands, put your things away, and stay inside the lines. Go to bed early and keep yourself out of trouble. Lock in a solid routine and leave room for the occasional innocent mishap. When all your ducks are in a row, let loose and have a little fun.

✧ The Playful Baby Monkey ✧

Schedule Routine: Babies need solid, steady, structure.
Take a Nap:
A quick, little 20 minute snooze is all you need.
Bring Snacks:
Squirrel them away so you're always prepared.
Wash your Hands: We're heading into cold and flu season.
Go to Bed Early: Make it a sacred evening ritual.

Fire Pig Moon Wanes    Here we are at the curly-tail end of our Yin Fire Pig Moon. The solstice is nearly upon us and we're quickly encroaching upon the deepest pit of Yin for the year - but don't worry - it'll fly right by and should be over before it even begins. Once this phase comes to pass, Yang will be on the rise yet again... and so the world goes - as it always has/always will.    As...

A Full Fire Pig Moon    Last week we leaned in on the internal transformative power of a pig, but did you know that it has an external transformative capacity too? It's true! If you plucked a feral boar from the wild - tusks, hair, and all - and threw it in a pen, within 3-6 mo. it'd look no different from all the other porky pigs. In the same way, if you take an heirloom, blue ribbon pigle...

The Waxing Fire Pig    Did you know that pigs could live under an outhouse and thrive? They can literally eat nothing but food scraps and feces and still be perfectly content. The other animal that could do that is the goat; but if a goat eats garbage, it will taste like garbage - both the meat and the milk. Not a pig though. It has the ability to metabolize the mess and still be delicious....
