Full Double-Snake Moon

Back in the days of young Confucius, before he made a name for himself as a civil philosopher, he traveled all over China on a campaign to unify the lands. This was not an easy task. Imagine all the different ethnic minorities, all the different languages and dialects, all the different values and norms. With so many fundamental differences, how could one man unite a nation without the use of drugs, guns, religion, manipulation, or coercion?

Many thought Confucius was confused, but in fact, he was actually quite clever. He knew that at our core, all humans were basically the same. Which brings us to our point - moms! Beyond culture, age, race, or faith, everyone loves their mama. Right? With a solid base of mutual maternal adoration, he was able create a system of filial piety, social morality, and civil order that would influence the unification and governance of China to this day.
Clearly, we bring this story up with Mother's Day in mind. It isn't Mother's Day in China, but why miss out on a chance to love on our moms?! If you're fortunate enough to have your mom around, please take the time to give her some sweetness. Just think, if Confucius could use a mother's love to help unify a waring nation - what else could a mother's love remedy today?

✧ Grateful for the Mamas ✧
Give her Flowers: Don't just buy them, pick them yourself!
Share a Meal: Breakfast in bed, maybe a brunch? Hook it up!
Take her Out: Draft an elaborate plan. Moms love that stuff.
Make Memories: Forget about gifts, create an experience.

Mother, Mother, Mother, Father

Fire Pig Moon Wanes    Here we are at the curly-tail end of our Yin Fire Pig Moon. The solstice is nearly upon us and we're quickly encroaching upon the deepest pit of Yin for the year - but don't worry - it'll fly right by and should be over before it even begins. Once this phase comes to pass, Yang will be on the rise yet again... and so the world goes - as it always has/always will.    As...

A Full Fire Pig Moon    Last week we leaned in on the internal transformative power of a pig, but did you know that it has an external transformative capacity too? It's true! If you plucked a feral boar from the wild - tusks, hair, and all - and threw it in a pen, within 3-6 mo. it'd look no different from all the other porky pigs. In the same way, if you take an heirloom, blue ribbon pigle...

The Waxing Fire Pig    Did you know that pigs could live under an outhouse and thrive? They can literally eat nothing but food scraps and feces and still be perfectly content. The other animal that could do that is the goat; but if a goat eats garbage, it will taste like garbage - both the meat and the milk. Not a pig though. It has the ability to metabolize the mess and still be delicious....
