The Final Full Moon
This is a juicy time of year. Similar to how the native Hawaiians have all these different ways to describe the rain, or how the Inuit Eskimos have all these different ways to describe the snow, there are just as many ways that we can describe this yearly shift from the pit of yin to the light of yang.
One cute way to illustrate this phase is with a silly "butt/head" phrase. In western astrology, this would be called a cusp. This is when the border line between two neighboring zodiac signs gets blurred and the two archetypes influence each other. As of now, we've got a dragon butt with a snake head. Next year, we'll have a snake butt with a horse head. Make sense? We can't wait for 2028/29 - that will be a monkey butt, chicken head. ð
Another way to describe the final full moon of the year is Xiao Xin Nian, or Little New Year. This is the two week preparation party before the two week new year party. We're basically partying for a full month here. This is when we buy new clothes, get hair cuts, clean our homes, and pack our pantries with fresh fruits and produce before the spring festivities. Fun, right? How do you get ready for the promise of a new year?
