The Daoist Outlookã»005
New Wood Dog Moon
When we think of the wood element, it's common to think of a mighty tree, tall and strong. Thing is, within the Daoist framework of the five elements, wood is less of a solid tree and more of a tiny sprout. Think of it like a little seed, erupting up from the soil. There's a newness here, and some incredible strength too, but also a flavor of fragility. In that light, a wood dog is basically a puppy!
Puppies are loving, kind, sweet, charming, and extremely playful. They come equipped with big burley paws, huge floppy ears, and adorable puppy dog eyes. Little doggies discover their world by destroying it, often wearing out the people that love them most. Keep that in mind as you goof off this time of year. You may mean well, but you might be taking a toll on others - not wise before winter.
